Offset your review of Shining in the Nighttime

Très grosse déception pour cette anthologie de nouvelles qui a été vendue comme un recueil exceptionnel des maîtres de l'horreur et du fantastique. Cette lecture ne m'a pas du tout convaincue, j'ai peiné à arriver au tour et j'en ressors perplexe. J'attendais du fantastique, de fifty'épouvante, de l'horreur mais la plupart des nouvelles sont sans saveur et peu originales, je me suis ennuyée (très très déçue par celle de Stephen Male monarch...). Mes préférées, et les seules dignes d'intérêt à mon sens, sont Très grosse déception cascade cette anthologie de nouvelles qui a été vendue comme un recueil exceptionnel des maîtres de l'horreur et du fantastique. Mes préférées, et les seules dignes d'intérêt à mon sens, sont la dernière et la plus longue de John Ajvide Lindqvist (sur les thèmes du jeu de rôle et Lovecraft) et celle d'Edgar Allan Poe. ...more than

I don't really know where to go with this as bulk of the stories are extremely disappointing. The classic Poe story was great and possibly the all-time part of this collection. The final story was pretty exciting as well, but to say the rest brutal short would exist an understatement. Yes.. this includes the King of Horror'southward submission. I literally finished his story and stared at the book with a "What the fuck was that?"... I don't really know where to go with this as majority of the stories are extremely disappointing. The classic Poe story was bang-up and perhaps the best part of this collection. The terminal story was pretty exciting equally well, just to say the residual fell brusque would be an understatement. Yep.. this includes the Rex of Horror's submission. I literally finished his story and stared at the book with a "What the fuck was that?"... ...more

Me han gustado dos relatos sin contar con el de Poe. El resto es de malo a horrible (el de SK es un mierdón). No merece la pena. Antes de comprarlo preguntadme y bone digo qué relatos son decentes para que los busquéis en otro sitio. Yo he sufrido, vosotros no tenéis por qué.

Stephen Edwin King was built-in the second son of Donald and Nellie Ruth Pillsbury King. After his begetter left them when Stephen was two, he and his older blood brother, David, were raised by his mother. Parts of his childhood were spent in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where his father's family unit was at the time, and in Stratford, Connecticut. When Stephen was 11, his mother brought her children back to Durham, M Stephen Edwin King was built-in the 2nd son of Donald and Nellie Ruth Pillsbury Rex. After his father left them when Stephen was two, he and his older brother, David, were raised by his female parent. Parts of his childhood were spent in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where his father's family was at the time, and in Stratford, Connecticut. When Stephen was xi, his female parent brought her children back to Durham, Maine, for adept. Her parents, Guy and Nellie Pillsbury, had become incapacitated with sometime age, and Ruth King was persuaded by her sisters to accept over the physical intendance of them. Other family unit members provided a small business firm in Durham and fiscal support. After Stephen's grandparents passed away, Mrs. Rex found work in the kitchens of Pineland, a nearby residential facility for the mentally challenged.

Stephen attended the grammar school in Durham and Lisbon Falls High School, graduating in 1966. From his sophomore twelvemonth at the University of Maine at Orono, he wrote a weekly column for the school newspaper, THE MAINE CAMPUS. He was also active in student politics, serving equally a member of the Student Senate. He came to back up the anti-state of war movement on the Orono campus, arriving at his stance from a conservative view that the war in Vietnam was unconstitutional. He graduated in 1970, with a B.A. in English language and qualified to teach on the high school level. A draft lath examination immediately mail-graduation found him iv-F on grounds of high blood pressure level, limited vision, flat feet, and punctured eardrums.

He met Tabitha Spruce in the stacks of the Fogler Library at the University, where they both worked every bit students; they married in Jan of 1971. As Stephen was unable to notice placement as a teacher immediately, the Kings lived on his earnings every bit a laborer at an industrial laundry, and her student loan and savings, with an occasional boost from a short story sale to men's magazines.

Stephen made his outset professional curt story sale ("The Glass Floor") to Startling Mystery Stories in 1967. Throughout the early years of his marriage, he continued to sell stories to men'south magazines. Many were gathered into the Nighttime Shift collection or appeared in other anthologies.

In the fall of 1971, Stephen began pedagogy English at Hampden Academy, the public high school in Hampden, Maine. Writing in the evenings and on the weekends, he continued to produce short stories and to work on novels.
