My understanding is Remote Desktop is available if yous run Windows x Pro. Its a free but an optional program yous can download from the Microsoft store. But search for information technology in the Microsoft Store. I used Remote Desktop on Windows eight.1 pro and the new version is a little different.

Thank you but it nevertheless doesn't work. I take already upgraded and it's since the upgrade that settings and remote desktop don't work. It'due south looking like I will take to buy a new laptop as it but doesn't seem to exist a solvable problem.

New DELL XPS13 (marvelous device) Running legacy RDC and the new MS Shop version side by side. Legacy RDC is just fine - all functions perform equally normal.
New version not so skilful. GREYED OUT copy and paste. Clipboard setting is ON. This part is CRITICAL - without it RDC is worthless. It appears to be a bug since the legacy SW works fine on the aforementioned device through the aforementioned GWs and FWs.
Also - PLEASE mail service the SW release version number someplace in the NEW version - on the screen so we can run across it. (Like the one-time Help-About) Otherwise there is no way to validate if it is an updated release.
Set Copy and Paste and so information technology works as it should.
I would likewise advise more verbose UE on the Store version. For those who are skilled using a RDC they tin can use the finer features occasionally. Give us back some control like in the legacy version.
New version has some nice features....just proceed on giving usa more.

What I'd like to see is an acknowledgement past Microsoft that the Windows 10 Store version of Remote Desktop is flawed and their delivery to fix this problems. I'm using the eight.1 version if I need to copy/paste.

I have a Windows Surface Pro 3 and have the aforementioned issue. The APP crashes most immediately, still after several attempts it will piece of work for a session.
The side by side session will crash and I accept to continue trying to launch until it works.

It comes with RDP Server and RDP Client (user'south question was unclear as to whether "they were looking for RDP Server or Client" . Why exercise you need to download an app from the app store? Windows has ever come with RDP Client. Depending on the version, it comes with RDP Server besides.

The LEGACY RDC works as information technology always has. You find it in the "Windows Accesorries" menu element. Information technology is native in Win 10.
The DOWNLOADABLE RDC is on the Shop. Information technology is new - and it is broken.
These are 2 different programs that practice similar tasks to those of you non familiar with the legacy version.
Microsoft - read the posts over again. The Store version is defective and volition non allow for a copy and paste function from the server to the customer. A very necessary function. This needs to be fixed asap.
The App discovery tool will non detect a problem with the Store version as the Store version is functioning as it was designed to part. Your advice was poor advice. READ THE POSTS!
The legacy RDC works equally in the past. There is no demand to download it. Run it and insert your credentials and life is good.
The NEW STORE version is supposed to exist more user friendly, but it lacks capabilities. If MS fixes the problems it would be a preferred app to use in my view as tabbing between sessions is easier.
I am sure there are other users who accept discovered more issues with the Shop version. I have quit using information technology as it will not C&P.
I am anxious to hear more well-nigh the proposed update to the Win 10 Store RDC.
I last irritation.....publish the version of the app in a Assistance-Virtually carte du jour item then we know what we are running.
